Julia Prescot, Partner, Meridiam Infrastructure
Julia has an extensive background in project funding, having acted as an investor, adviser both to Governments and to the private sector and provider of debt and junior funding in respect of a large number of PPP projects around the globe. Julia’s past roles have included Head of Project Finance at Hill Samuel in London, Co-Head of Project Advisory at Charterhouse Bank to Senior Director and Head of Eurozone Infrastructure Finance at Bank of Scotland. In 2005 she moved to work on the development and realisation of Meridiam, where she is a Partner and a Member of the Board of Meridiam Infrastructure Managers (“Meridiam”).
Meridiam is a PPP fund manager, making equity investments in transport and social infrastructure projects. Meridiam was established in 2005 with support from AECOM and Credit Agricole. The team now comprises an integrated team of 19 professionals spread across offices in Paris, New York and Toronto. Meridiam’s first fund raised €546m, now fully committed, and Meridiam has launched two parallel successor funds in 2010 in Europe and North America continuing the long term PPP investment structure exemplified by the initial fund. Meridiam’s portfolio comprises 10 major investments and won numerous awards in 2009, most notably “Financial Sponsor of the Year.”
Julia is involved in originating, managing and investing in projects and plays an active lead on individual projects including the Limerick Tunnel in Ireland, the LIFT investments in the UK and the A5 A-modell motorway in Germany. Previous transactions in which she has been involved include funding for the A28 and A41 motorways in France, the privatisation of ENA in Spain, London Underground Tubelines and the NATS privatisation in the UK as well as a significant number of other UK PPP social accommodation transactions.Back to speakers
